Yes, there’s the El Paseo Shopping District with its restaurants, art galleries, clothing boutiques, bistros, and bakeries. There’s also the Gardens on El Paseo , home to Saks Fifth Avenue, Ann Taylor Loft, Pottery Barn, Brooks Brothers, Tommy Bahamas, Talbots, Williams-Sonoma, and Tiffany & Co (that’s the short list).

Of equal interest and fun, over 20 art galleries line the single mile-long shopping district or fall inside the Gardens. Paintings, sculptures, blown glass, antiques, even golf art (Graeme Baxter Golf Gallery). Jewelers? More than 20. Home furnishings? Check. Restaurants? Steak, seafood, wood-fired pizza, fine Italian. There’s also Westfield Palm Desert with over 180 stores and, handy for a hot summer day, a movie theater.
